Stick to your plan!

Every few weeks I write a blog about having a goal and how to achieve the greatest chance of success for yourself.

If you want to change something in your life, you have to take into account that you give the plan time. You need time to master new habits that are part of your new lifestyle. Imagine you want to lose 10 kilos. Then changing certain habits is almost the most important part of the process.

That brings me right to why you should never start a crash diet.

With a crash diet you will lose a lot of weight in a short time, but you have not taken the time to integrate the changes that come with your new lifestyle to maintain this new weight. The result is that you will eventually return to your old weight.

Today I take the -GFT container as an example.

When we received this at the beginning of the year, I was very enthusiastic. I already saw myself as the ultimate environmentally conscious woman. I was not only going to separate the organic waste, no, I was also going to dispose of the plastic and glass separately from now on. I took off head over heels. For a long time I have thought that I should separate my waste, but it never really turned out well. The purchase of the organic waste container was the proverbial button that switched on to do it well for once. Until my family kept throwing banana peels in the regular waste bin. Then I could have thought: this is no use, never mind.”.

There have also been many days in which I thought: shit, again that organic waste container not emptied. Well, then I just throw the organic waste in the regular rubbish bin.ak”.

As a result, separating the plastic did not get off the ground anyway from day one.

Despite all those obstacles that make you give up again, consciously or unconsciously, I kept throwing as much as possible into the organic waste conrtainer all this time.

And then there was always another day when I had the peace of mind in my head to just walk to the dump and throw the bag away. In the days that followed, it seemed more natural to throw what belongs in the organic waste container there. I had the energy again to talk to my family about throwing their banana peels in the organic waste container, because I had the confidence that it would work again..

Once something has become a habit that does not require you to think about it, you are another step in the right direction and then you focus on step two. In my case, separate plastic.

Behavioral changes simply take time.
